About

The following examples describe conditions and feelings of my clients (names changed) who found solutions to their challenges. Reach out; let’s learn if I can help you.

Examples of Previous Cases

Alice needed guidance with her 21-year-old daughter, Beth, who was using pot, always angry – and a month in rehab didn’t help. Refocusing away from her behavior to family stress, we trained them to validate and empathize each other, thus reducing stress. Beth returned to an active adult life. Within a few years, I was invited to her wedding. Her Dad whispered to me, “Thank you; this wouldn’t be happening without you.”

Catherine and Ted, anxious young parents, struggled with post-partum depression. They eagerly learned new emotional listening skills that reduced the natural stress of early family life. They learned to be a ‘we-team’ saying, “We feel more secure now that we understand our stresses.” They went on to have two more children.

Gary sought help to “save my marriage to Jane and protect our teen girls.” He couldn’t put his feelings into words – he just acted them out. They learned that marital stress-load was like business debt-load, and emotional economics could detoxify marital stress. We used mediation to salvage a secure ‘co-parent’ team, while dissolving a toxic marriage. They reflected, “Husbands and wives get divorced, but our kids can have a loving Mom and Dad without a toxic marriage.”

Example of a Session with Me

Intake includes a brain-based diagnostic interview, stress inventory, family dynamics, and treatment planning.

Brain coaching sessions promote empathy, validation, and mindfulness. Creativity coaching empowers personal identity narratives.

John, 24, an aspiring musician, was stuck in a pot/video game lifestyle, with feelings of resentment toward his parents. Focusing on his passion for excellence, he learned that watching master musicians on YouTube triggered motivation in his brain. He stopped pot, took medication, and hired a music teacher.

Philosophy and Treatment Method

I created Logosoma Brain Training (LBT) in 1985. This technique is based on ancient mindfulness and social neuroscience.

Human beings live in two narratives: an emotional story driven by the ‘survival brain’ (soma) and a rational story created by the mindful brain (logos).

LBT teaches people how to master stress, increase empathy, and fulfill creative potential for secure bonds with oneself and family.
